Last week, I competed in a triathlon at Towne Lake, the neighborhood next to ours in Cypress. It was preceded by a 10-week crash training course, which was preceded by me deciding that I was tired of being so out of shape following two years of pregnancies and babies. The race was great motivation to be diligent about exercising.
On the actual race day, we found out that the bike portion had been cancelled because of heavy rains the night before. I had mixed feelings because, while I was slightly relieved about the shorter race, I wanted to prove to myself that I could complete an Olympic-distance triathlon.
